An update on my recent drop catching..

Times are getting tougher & the drop catchers are ruffling their feathers.

I was chasing these drops:  lorry.com, aerials.net & offensive.us.  Yesterday & today.

I found that at least one out of my 3 drop catches were captured by a preferred partner, before handing it to snapnames – it was dotster.com I believe (seconds right after drop).. Now it says INTERM servers.. as they are partners. I know they all had backorders.. so there is hope everyone.

Dotster being an example that – Had some of these domains NOT had any backorders at the backorder warehouses, I may have just been able to catch all 3.. But.. no.. you had to do it right? A ton of people backordered these names & bam! Snapnames was on the drops like no tomorrow.

It’s cool to be the “Do it yourself” drop catcher.

I compare it to a recent  example like: foreigners  <dot > us & grows  <dot > us. I paid nearly $4 each for these drop catches days – weeks ago.. check the whois. ! Just need to sneak in there when no one is looking lol.

My Latest Tool.. For Domainers: Antique Drop Data

Ok Ok.. I just contradicted my previous post about DNMeter being the coolest tool around.. But this time I over did myself. Here it goes.. a Beta version of some old expiring domain data. I found that there is a HUGE need for an index of collected old drop data. I have teamed up with a NON-USA domain registry for valuable lists of drop data. These lists reach back to 23 years ago domain drop data. These domains are premium quality. Once regged, dropped again.. then regged again over & over. It reminds me of history & historical facts of time repeating itself over & over again in patterns. Sorry to be so geeky.. but here’s the scoop..

You can now search valuable drop data about domains dropped many years ago. For some even before you were born!  You can search in various patterns & styles. The link is of course: http://www.antiquedrops.com

An example of how to use this free tool (for now) is this.. My friend searched the historical drop data at Antique Drops.com & found that various PATTERN = LLLBank.com domains were available for hand reg. He quickly compiled a full list of bank names like: PATTERN = LLL (Letter, Letter, Letter) & the word = BANK. He grabbed a name like: GLCBank.com. Instantly made the private sale & turned a $8 hand reg domain into a substantial amount of money. Low $x,xxx to be exact because a smaller bank branch in switzerland uses that same name & it makes sense!

The above was a mock of names, & GLC Bank. The actual domain was not for a GLC Bank, but true story & true facts on location of the bank & buyer – and my friend who hand regged the domain. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Lately I keep crashing servers trying to house billions of records of drop data. Last time  I came close a single search took 7 days to complete when I had a good handle on a huge database. I guess it’s trial and error, but enjoy the “lite” free version of antiquedrops before it goes to a paid service to house the multiple requests & spread the information across muliple servers. Hang in there & happy searching.

I was away from domaining because I was at the Mayhem Festival in Tinley Park, IL 2009

Sorry guys,

I was super iffy about posting what I did Sunday night. Being it’s not domaining related & I actually left 2 of my main websites & servers downed while I went up to the MidWest Bank Amplitheather in Tinley park IL & got down to some awesome Metal live bands for Mayhem Fest 2009! (Closest thing to Ozzfest I guess)

mayhem_festival

As my buddies picked me up, I knew that a couple of my sites were down. !!?? So What!! lol, It was a fest to attend. In the end it all works out & I am proud to blog about it! Domains or no domains, Servers or no servers, this was a super cool event!

Some of the best bands.. of course were Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Kill Switch Engage (KSE) & of course fancy pants Marilyn Manson. C’mon Marilyn, I was waiting for you to be trotting on stilts like previous shows with a crazy creep show. Guess all we got was a nice fluff of air with shredded paper dropped on us. Anyways, I had an awesome seat in the dead center & enjoyed the full show.

I would begin to mention how many stands DID NOT have  a ” <dot> .com” Advertisement! But Uggh, can you imagine how many more beer & shirt sales the crazy crowdage would have bought if company <dot com> was inprinted on each?. I congratulate these concerts that do an awesome job on keeping crowds focused on “them”. And I also noticed multiple stickers on the seats to grab your tickets at a “Line… something hub .com/. <brain fart>.. Trying to compete with TicketMaster.com

Positive advertisement is needed so you can get repeat visitors! – everyone  take  note..:

No where did I see an advertisement for Marilyn Manson’s website – KSE, Cannibal Corpse or SLAYER. I know their sites b/c I am a fan, but if they advertised, their fans would double instantly IMHO.

The latest and greatest domaining tool I developed.

Ok, so I have to brag a little bit.. Thanks to the “Domaining Gods” I am now able to compile a daily list of dropping domains daily in their drop order.  So this means that if you were going after the domain: BettySue.com, I would be able to give you a precise time of when that domain will drop.

The domain is:

http://www.dnmeter.com

For the low price of $1.99 for 1 daily list, or $19.99 per month, you can secure your valuable domain dropping list @ dnmeter.com. The one nice thing about dnmeter is that from top to bottom it lists all the daily dropping names.

Checkout today’s list. It’s pretty cool, I have my eye set on a few domains up in there!

Noone can really keep their eyes still with so many drops, so make sure that you enoy the fun at: DN Meter . com.

2 .TV Domain regs in the bag! Thanks Dynadot!

Ok.. Ok.. So I kinda over reacted when It took around 30 hours for my 2 domains to process. I apologize and have to give Dynadot the credit really. There’s a lot of competition for drop catching .tv’s. It’s like the domains are scarce and god forbid you go out drop catching one! J /K.

Anyways, here’s the domains I was able to catch…

Acrobat < dot > t v

Collectables < dot > t v

I know that the 2nd one can be taken as a typo, but I do as said. After some research it could be one of those typo’s you may want to keep.

Sorry for the extra spaces, but trying to keep the big “G” from spidering my pages & flawing up a future sales of my drop caught domains. Anyways, there you have it.. and the 2 domains have been transfered to my friend :)

I don’t ask him for anything in return although he does a great job of hooking me up for catching expiring .tv domains for him.

Cheers!

I caught 2 .TV drops last night! Where are they now?

I was drop catching two domains for a buddy. One was a real gem (possibly trademark), while the other was a simple typo with a lot of potential.

First off, I have to mention that .TV domain extension drop catching is a lucrative business.  Second off, I don’t believe there is a reliable .tv drop source yet “hehe” for the drop lists. I started compiling my own drop catch lists & I am finding great gems.. exclusively compiled by myself. Also I am finding great available .tv domains which I find have high resell value.

Anyways, I will not comment on the 2 .tv domains in question. BUT.. <cough><cough> I can say that they are both registered to my Dynadot acct. The funds have been removed from my 2 seperate Dynadot API accts & the domains show up in there with a “Processing” status.  Plus under the “processing” link on my account page, the comment says: “Add To Account” :D I wonder if ENOM or the .TV administration is on to my drop catching.. lol.

I will soon publish the .TV domains list I caught using my Dynadot API tools :o

Fighting The Expiring Domains Drop “Hype”

Yep, I have said it once & I will say it again. Sometimes domain backordering and selecting domains.. can leave you with buyer’s remorse or worse yet.. a DUD!

Here’s a short list of domains that are available to hand reg:

WORLDISCOVERYTOUR.COM
TRADINGJOKES.COM
CANDYHUNT.COM
DIZZING.COM
PIMPDRIFT.COM
TOPLOSERS.COM
EASYTUNED.COM
CASHLOTTERIES.COM

It goes to show that after yesterday’s drop.. These didn’t get picked up. If I had caught them on the “drop” I would have backordered or grabbed 1-2. Not sure.. but it goes to show about the drop catching hype. Most people fail to understand that quality domains drop and are available for hand regging. No matter what your criteria for adwords,  pagerank & google results – Manual work can help find the gems. I am finding more and more that I just need to bite my tounge and eye ball the drop lists. over & over again.

Today’s Drop Catching – Nothing!!

I was going after 2 sweet domains:

Albany.us and Niagara.us!

I armed myself with the necessary tools & didn’t chase anything else. I prefunded multiple accounts across all these registries:

Dynadot.com (API & Non-API)

Onlinenic.com (API)

Enom (API & Non-API)

RRProxy (API)

Name.com (Non-API)

As soon as drop time hit! I nailed all the registries multiple times!  When the dust settled, I was left empty handed. I got beat out by Snapnames & a GoDaddy backorder. What’s worse is that I gave up chasing other precious drops because these 2 .us drops had me all worked up.

A couple weeks ago I caught: Foreigners.us – which had a snapnames backorder. I actually caught it at Dynadot with their API. SO I had my heart set on these two USA cities! I would only imagine that multiple backorders came in and these two domains will end up in auction.

Some of the names I didn’t get to chase, but wanted to were rosincore.com and seafoodcocktail.com I’m not 100% convinced the seafood cocktail one would be a huge success, but it sounds good. Plus there’s shrimp cocktail. Well it look like one of Pool’s drop catcher’s caught seafoodcocktail.com & GoDaddy snagged RosinCore.com.

Oh well, better luck tomorrow! There’s always plenty of more drops to catch ;)

I hope to see everyone there this evening!

Do you use Mozilla FireFox as your favorite browser?

I enjoy surfing the web & domaining using Firefox. Firefox is made by Mozilla which has been around for ages. dino

A few things that I like abour Firefox that Internet Explorer doesn’t offer is addons better known as “Plugins”. My favorite addon is FireBug. firebugFirebug was a blessing when I was developing and stress testing the domain auction platform: DNKO.COM.

So as you can see, there is a lot of flexibility that firefox offers. The firefox browser loads a lot faster than IE. It also doesn’t crash nearly as much as Internet explorer does.

Something I have noticed however is that after Firefox does it’s updates, the browser becomes very slow & unstable. Furthermore, when I minimize a window, it vanishes into thin air. If I do a control + alt + delete, then pick “Switch To” Firefox, voila.. the browser slides from minimized state to full window. A bit peculiar if you ask me, but it’s a rare issue that only happens when updating.

I want to build my own firefox addon. Perhaps a drop catching script – or an available domains finder (while you surf) addon tool. I believe it would be used by many domainers.

If you have any suggestions, I am all ears. I have a lot of free time & can probably design and build an addon for Firefox rather quickly.
