Maybe I am wrong but if a customer mandates a company (a registar) to take care and keep an asset secure (domain name) does it mean the whole asset can be taken by the company if the customer doesn’t pay his service fee ? Is it not stealing ? Just a question.

Tucows stinks. Unfortunately due to their position within CIRA their despicable behaviour is not likely to change.

Thanks for the input everyone. I didn’t mean to point the finger at Tucows & it was a coincidence that they siphoned the domain secretly in pending delete state. I always heard about this, but never found a working example. I guess the date threw it off & DNClips is right about the expiration date. Gazzip & Patrick, I have to agree with you guys.

My how I wish I had the power the registrars have. It must be a shame & slap to the face to whoever let this gem drop. I didn’t chase stubby.us as I was determined Jacket.com was dropping since it came from the official Verisign pending delete list.

Bugui, a domain cannot be renewed in the Pending Release stage.
I believe Gazzip hit the nail on the head, “TUCOWS has decided to siphon off JACKET.com for themselves and it will not drop at all”.

Tucows is notorious for this behavior.

Yes, that can happen much times, exactly that remembers me on past times, there were a few good hotel names in pending delete status and just the last day before release they becomed registered again

Best of luck getting JACKET.com, as far as I could tell last night even though Pool and Namejet still showed it as pending delete it has just been registered until 2011.

I “suspect” that the registrar TUCOWS has decided to siphon off JACKET.com for themselves and it will not drop at all….we shall soon find out !

I think it was renewed within the last few days. Here’s an email from my GoDaddy domain monitor:
